The item is based on a hand-knitted vest of the American Red Cross dating back to the 1940s. Among Takahashi's collection is a knitting book by the American Red Cross issued around 1917, when people across America were mobilized to send in goodwill hand-knitted garments to soldiers fighting on the front lines. The book introduces how to knit mufflers, hand warmers, and various other items. We analyzed the knitting techniques and details showcased in the book and updated the design for modern use. The fabric uses a blend of rare white cashmere and extra-fine lambswool yarns. The result is a lightweight, warm, and comfortable knit that combines the smoothness and flexibility of cashmere and fluffy elasticity of wool.
